In the Glow: Ovoid

This one of my earliest experiments with bounced light. The subtle pink color emanating from the oval is tinged by reflected light— as the back side of this piece is colored with intensely bright neon pink paint. I’ve left openings at the sides, top, and bottom edges to allow even more light in (and out). Varied lighting conditions create a figure/ground illusion of a solid egg-shaped object in space. This one-of-a-kind wall-hanging sculpture is made of stitched 100% wool ‘design felt’ over stretcher bars.
This piece is featured in the exhibition ‘In The Glow’ at the Triton Museum of Art in Santa Clara, California from September - December 2024.
