Teddy Bear Fetal Specimen Ursulus parvulus pallidus

$300.00
Sold

Ursulus parvulus pallidus (pale-eyed) 5.25 x 2.75 x 2.75 inches, wool, glass jar, plastic buttons, 2023

A perfectly preserved one-of-a-kind specimen of a fetal teddy bear, named for its pale-colored eyes. Presented in isopropyl alcohol in a glass specimen jar, this will round out your cabinet of curiosities.

**Please note: Upon purchase this specimen will be drained of its alcohol for shipping, as 70% isopropyl alcohol is considered a hazardous substance that I cannot ship directly. You will receive the damp specimen in its jar, PLUS a separate shipment of a 16-oz bottle of 70% isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol directly from a drugstore supplier. You get the delight of refilling the jar with alcohol and seeing the specimen teddy fetus magnify before your eyes and float and sink a bit depending on air pockets.

This piece is from my Teddy Bear Unnatural History body of work. To create my teddy bear natural history pieces I start with various breeds and reverse engineer the physical ‘evidence’ of their biological history in needle felted wool, a material perfectly suited to representing fuzzy and soft yet firm and structural bones and tissues of stuffed animals.
