Wool Drawings
These unique artworks are what I call ‘wool drawings’: instead of pigment, I use dark-colored fibers pushed through paper to make marks that read as dark and light for a dimensional and graphic effect. From afar these look as though they’re made with ink or charcoal, but close-up views reveal individual fibers that project from the paper.
Often my subject matter comes from the natural world— or rather the somewhat altered world of domesticated and overbred species. I have a particular fondness for ‘fancy pigeon’ breeds as well as crows. Both types of bird seem to inspire extreme positive or negative reactions in people.
Selected original artworks are available through my online wool drawing shop.
