Cannonball Arts Mechanical Bull Soft Sculpture Proposal: Toxic Beauty (Pink Nudibranch)

Below is a gallery of images from two relevant bodies of work, each constructed in a manner similar to my proposal above. I created ‘Hanging Pods’ by designing and fabricating soft armatures of industrial felt (somewhat like a stuffed animal) and needle-felting wool over the form to form details. For many of my ‘Holdables’ I patterned over carved foam rubber with 3/8-inch-thick industrial felt to follow the underlying desired forms. Both bodies of work were made up of multiples that necessitated creative problem-solving to achieve the shapes I wanted. I engineered the artworks to be durable yet appealingly tactile, and they have held up well under audience interactions over time. As you will see, my concept drawings accurately predict the finished artworks and anticipated engagement.
